How it's built
I built Next Movies to learn the Next.js App Router by shipping a real product, not just following a tutorial.
- Server Components fetch data on the server, so the browser gets ready-to-read HTML instead of a loading spinner.
- Each section streams in on its own with Suspense, so a slow video list never blocks the movie details.
- Responses are cached with fetch's force-cache option, so repeat visits are fast.
- Videos load as lightweight thumbnails and only turn into a YouTube player when you click. Some movies have 200+ videos, so this keeps the page fast.
- The video list uses infinite scroll with IntersectionObserver, loading 20 at a time.
- Custom loading, error, and 404 pages handle the moments when things go wrong.

Movie data and images come from The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Streaming availability is provided by JustWatch.
